Browns of Harborne is a traditional family butcher in Harborne, proudly serving the local Birmingham community since 1938.
For generations, families have trusted us not only for quality meat, but for honest advice, friendly service, and the reassurance that comes from buying from people who genuinely care. The business was founded by Mr Eddie Brown, who later brought his four sons into the trade and built the family name across four shops. In 1995, the brothers each followed their own paths within butchery, and Roger Brown continued the Browns legacy here in Harborne.
Our Philosophy
Roger Brown’s guiding principle was simple: you are what you eat. That belief still sits at the heart of everything we do today. It means sourcing responsibly, preparing with care, and never compromising on quality.

Our Story
Around ten years ago, we moved from Lonsdale Road to Northfield Road in Harborne. This allowed us to meet modern food hygiene standards while making the shop easier to access, including free off-road parking for our customers. It ensured we could continue serving Harborne and the surrounding Birmingham community to the high standard people had come to expect.
Following Roger’s passing, the shop remains in trusted hands. Jason Hyde, who worked alongside Roger for 36 years, together with Jason Brown, continue to uphold the same values that built Browns: quality first, community always, and customers at the centre of everything.

We Are Proud to Supply Quality Meat in Harborne
All of our meat is outdoor reared and free from growth promoters, because quality and welfare matter.
We also produce our own sausages on the premises using prime cuts of shoulder, leg, and belly. Everything is made in-house using traditional methods, ensuring the same high standard that customers expect from a trusted Birmingham butcher.
